About Tom

Tom was a disrupter before he knew what a disrupter was.

In college he worked as a bartender. The bar had a sandwich board for advertising that people would take turns walking around town wearing trying to get noticed. Every Monday at noon a group of demonstrators would stand in front of the courthouse with protest signs (no war for oil, anti nuclear, etc.) as people walked by. Just for laughs Tom joined them with his sign, "follow me to the Nick for a good time." Guerilla marketing before it was popular. The result was amazing though. Both sides got more notice because of the "laughs" generated. Lesson learned.

Tom started his business career in the mid 1980's. He was hired as a salesman for a large insurance company where he soon learned that he was a disrupter in an industry that wasn't exactly receptive to it. He validated a 3 year contract in 9 months and his average commission was 3x his districts average. He did not follow the "traditional " sales training program, because it didn't work for him. This of course made him a threat to the status quo and despite making them money, he was soon ostracized by management. His success was disrupting.

It's hard to imagine that success could be disrupting but that organization was not open to change. That taught Tom a valuable lesson. Successful people and organizations are not afraid to rock the boat. You don't need to sink it, just get the attention of the passengers. Different isn't always better but better is always different!!!

The next 25 years in sales and marketing and the last 8 in consulting have us well prepared to take on any task. We specialize in results.

Every situation is unique. We do not buy into "the early bird gets the worm." (who wants a worm?) Being the first isn't always the key to success...the second mouse to a trap almost always gets the cheese. Strategic decisions can keep you from worms and traps. That's not to say we want to come in second, we want to come in first. We just don't need to lead the race from the start.
